I am wondering what is the pop up errors? Or the Windows installation disk can't help you, I suspect that there is something wrong with it,as a useful installation disk won't do that,how do you make it? This additional space is larger than the difference between 25.5 GB and 20 GB. The Boot Camp Assistant will not install Windows because there really is not enough free space. One possible solution would be to use a 16 GB or larger flash drive to hold the Windows installation files. The Bootcamp icon from destop was already gone and Boot Camp Assistant gave me only option to create now partition and instal Windows, even known old partition was not completely deleted (I know that because there was still the same amount of free space on the Macintosh HD).

As title says, every time I run boot camp assistant, it says it doesn't work, even though it is accessing a 16gb USB 16gb USB that reads 15.92 available and an ISO that I downloaded earlier today. I tried making a manual installer USB by opening the.iso and trying to copy the files to the USB, but it kept saying some files weren't able to be. Step 3: Mount the downloaded Windows ISO by double-clicking. Click and then drag to select the files you installed and copy them. Again, copy WindowsSupport folder to the root directory in the USB installer. Now your Windows 10 USB installation is ready. Step 4: Once again launch the Boot Camp Assistant and click on Continue.
Now, I have created the ISO image from a Windows 8.1 disk purchased from BestBuy. I have also downloaded the Support software onto a USB Stick via BootCamp and I have created a 75GB partition for running windows.
But when I open BootCamp to continue, it says
'The Startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to a single partition.
The startup disk must be formatted as a single Mac OS Extended (Journaled) volume
or already partitioned by Boot Camp Assistant for installing Windows'
Which I don't understand because I have already made a partition, this was the message that prompted me to make a partition in the first place.
I can continue past this message, but when the Select Tasks menu appears, BootCamp will only allow the 'Download Latest Windows Software' box to be ticked.
So I am new to these kinds of modifications, so I am really hoping I am making a newb mistake somewhere. Inexplicable tech problems follow me like a plague though, so if anyone can help me to shed some light on this, I would be really grateful.

When attempting to create a Windows partition, Boot Camp Assistant might show the alert ”Your disk could not be partitioned. An error occurred while partitioning the disk. Please run First Aid from within Disk Utility to check and fix the error.”
Use Disk Utility to check for errors
- Install the latest macOS updates.
- Use Disk Utility to repair your startup disk.
- If Disk Utility found no errors or repaired all errors, try again to use Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows.
- If Boot Camp Assistant still gives the partitioning error, continue to the steps below.
Check for unallocated free space
- Open Disk Utility, which is in the Utilities folder of your Applications folder.
- In the Disk Utility sidebar, select the name of your internal disk, container, or volume, such as Macintosh HD.
- Click Partition in the toolbar.
- If you see a message about Apple File System space sharing, click Partition to confirm that you want to partition instead of add a volume.
- If the pie chart shows a section labeled ”Free space,” click to select it. ”Free space” should now also appear in the Partition Information shown on the right.
- After selecting the ”Free space” section of the chart, click the remove (–) button beneath the chart. Removing this unallocated free space makes that space available for your use again. Then click Apply and quit Disk Utility.
- Try again to use Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows.
- If Boot Camp Assistant still gives the same partitioning error, continue to the steps below.
Turn off Time Machine temporarily
If you use Time Machine with macOS Mojave or High Sierra, either upgrade to macOS Catalina 10.15 or later, or follow these steps:
- Open Time Machine preferences from the Time Machine menu in the menu bar. Or choose Apple menu > System Preferences, then click Time Machine.
- Deselect ”Back Up Automatically” to turn off Time Machine.
- Wait a few minutes, then try again to use Boot Camp Assistant to install Windows.
- After installation is complete, you can turn on Time Machine again.
